No, I don’t make silk purses. As a broadcast TV Producer, I developed a reputation for being able to make something exceptional from very limited resources. You know…silk purse, sow’s ear.
My blog is kind of the bits and pieces of the sow’s ear that make up the silk purse that is Me.
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for including my daughter, Alexis’ Sugar Spa in your blog. She is such a hard working professional talented young women. I know she was pleased to be given recognition by you for her exemplary service.

Hi Susan,
You are more than welcome. I think the world of Alexis and am very aware of how hard she has always worked.
I must confess, I am very familiar with the Lex Parker Design work and have always had you on my list for “when all my dreams come true”. You did do the design on one of my best friends home several years ago on the Chippawa Parkway.
Thank you for your note.

Thank you for featuring my promo, very flattered!
Nadine, Thank you for checking out the blog. I have to say I was pretty impressed with your work, which of course is why I mentioned you. I’m sorry but I did not receive any message from you via facebook I have double checked. Perhaps you found a different Michelle Gillies. My ID picture on facebook is of the green M & M or you can also find me via my Silk Purse Productions FB page. Thanks again for the read and I wish you the best for the PROMAX competition.
Congratulations on the; Kreativ blog award.
If the award started in Norway as you suggest, does this mean its a kind of Nobel Prize for bloggers?
Keep up the good work, I look forward to your future posts.
Heheheheh…I guess you could say that. Of course I wouldn’t dream of speaking for the Norwegians. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Michelle,
Wouldn’t you say it’s about time I get here?
Le Clown
Welcome Monsieur Le Clown! What took you so long?
I was beginning to think it was something I said. Let me fix that … I really like poutine.
Michelle,
You know how we are, us Canadians? I was on my way, then I got distracted by your crazy Canadian music, I think it was something like The Tragically Hip… So I stopped by, enjoyed it for awhile… Then I started thinking: “Is this the same album recorded for the 13th time?”, and I moved on, to finally get here. And me voilร !
Le Clown
I’m glad you got back on track. So … I guess I should write something for you to read … or maybe I will just listen to some Tragically Hip for awhile. I too fall prey to distraction.
Michelle,
Just read your comment on Haiku Sunday. And it made met think that I never congratulated you for being Freshly Pressed on Canadica. And it’s a heartfelt, well-deserved congratulations, too!
Have a wonderful Sunday.
Le Clown
Well, thank you Le Clown. I am pleased. I just figured it was not “cup of tea” (that was for your guest blogger) and that was why you refrained from commenting.
I now live in that land of in between. I can’t put “Freshly Pressed” on my blog because my post was on a different blog and I can’t borrow your custom made “Not Freshly Pressed” because I have been, just not here. I think the land of in between is better than never ever land. ๐
Michelle,
I think Sweet Mother’s Canadica is a fun concept, and have stopped by a few times. It was nothing personal, really, it all happened when I was featured on the Daily Post and life as I knew it changed, very rapidly…
My wife was Freshly Pressed for a post she wrote on my serious blog, Black Box Warnings. We thought it out. Even though it was written for another blog, it was still something written by her. So we decided to add the “Freshly Pressed” banner on her “Laments and Lullabies” blog, linking to the post on BBW. That post is yours, Michelle, I would do something like that too, if it was mine!
Le Clown
Oh, I didn’t take it personally. I’m aware that my writing isn’t quite as … hmmm … let’s go with … “edgy” as most in the group. Although I enjoy the “edgier” posts and can turn the air blue with language at the drop of a hat, it just isn’t my writing style.
I write other blogs as well but for other people so I pretty much am writing in their voice. It will be fun to explore your Black Box Warnings and see another side to you. I have read some Laments and Lullabies but didn’t know that was your wife. I will check her out again. Thanks for the advice about the “Freshly Pressed”. I think I will take you up on it and if anyone asks I will tell them I had Le Clown’s permission. ๐
Michelle,
You are a very good writer. And it is nice to read something else than edgy… There are great writers all across the spectrum of bloggers, Michelle (that was a compliment to you).
Le Clown
Many thanks Le Clown. I appreciate your kind words and were they came from. I also am grateful for our chat today. It has done me a world of good. Thanks for taking the time. ๐
Michelle, I hope youโll accept the Sisterhood of World Bloggers Award –

Hi MichelIe – I tagged you for the Travel Confessions series. More info on my blog. Feel free to accept or not! Have a nice evening. Sherry
I did actually wonder about the name of your blog – glad you clarified! ๐
Thanks for checking it out. Your book looks pretty interesting. I will have to have a better look at it.
Really cool title. If only I could figure a way of making anything into gold! Man!!
My apologies for taking so long to respond. Your comment got lost in the netherworld for awhile. Weird! I was just on your site and as far as I am concerned it is gold. Thank you for checking me out Professor.
Hello. I came over to this page in the hope that I might find out where you live as I’m wondering where it is that spiders can do such damage and where, perhaps I might not choose to travel! ๐
You are probably safe. I am learning that there are people who get bitten all the time and those who don’t. If you haven’t already had this problem you probably won’t.
That being said, I am Canadian. I am from Niagara Falls, Ontario and am now living in Pickering, Ontario which is part of the Greater Toronto Area.
And I’m in Cornwall, UK where I’m sure we don’t have biting spiders but we do like to travel…. Our next trip is around New England in the fall. ๐
Don’t let my spiders scare you away from Canada. It is a stunningly beautiful country and you would love it.
We did a fabulous trip in Canada some years ago, landing in Calgary, driving up through mountains and lakes and then taking a train up to Prince Rupert where we caught the ferry down the Inside Passage and then over to Vancouver Island, driving again until our last few days in Vancouver. We loved it! We’d love to visit again in your neck of the woods. ๐
You definitely picked a great area to start. There is no doubt British Columbia is lovely. We have a lot to offer here as well and the East Coast is gorgeous as well.
Okay, yeah, a little bit more about you on the About page would be nice. But you are certainly funny. And are you Canadian? Cause I am.
It looks like we may have three conversations going at once. I may get dizzy.
Yes, I am a born and raised in Niagara Falls girl, living in the Durham Region now. Your area has always been one of my favourites. It has been some time since I was out that way though.
Seems that way… I am eternally confused anyhow. My wife used to live up in Stouffeville… I love that area.
Greetings Michelle,
Well, you won the contest! A free copy of One Life will be mailed to you if you send me your address. My email is bumbas24@yahoo.com and if you email me your address I’ll regularmail it to you soon. Congrats and enjoy the book.
Yeah!!! Me!!! I have been away for a few days and hadn’t been checking blog stuff. This is a nice surprise to come home to. I will email you as you said but want you to know I do live in Canada. I do have an American address that I have things sent to that I pick up every couple of weeks. Which would you prefer?
The American.

Thank you.
Hi, Michelle!
It’s almost November, but spring will come again. That’s what I keep telling myself, anyway. Now I know I’m a big fat liar, but I believe that one. I have to. We’ll get through this, I know it. Right? Please tell me I’m right :o/
How is it that I’ve never visited this page before?
Oh well, it’s great to be here.
It seems like it was a long time ago when we use to give out these wee awards. It was kind of nice. Like a pat on the back from all of us “trying” out there. I don’t think anyone does this any more.
That was weird. My response was to another page you had like. Anyway, yeah, My “About” page is sorely lacking and easily missed but I’m glad you found it.
Me too.
Bits and pieces of the sow’s ear is a good thing.
